What is the purpose of the study?
The cohort study seeks to establish the possible exposures that may be responsible to cause a disease. The kind of association examined in the study is that the relationship between the congenital malformations in off springs and rubella infection in pregnancy. This study is of benefit to the society in that on learning how the two diseases relate they would be able to take the necessary preventive measures and to seek medical advice on realising the possibilities of the problem.
Who will feature in the study?
The study will include females at the age of birth and that of conception. The reason for the young children at conception is to follow them up to the point of conceiving and giving birth. The reason for the girls at conception is to examine if their off spring will be affected.
How many groups will be included in the study?
The study will include at least two groups. One group is of exposed participants and the other consists of non-exposed participants.
How many people will be involved and how will they be selected?
The group will involve twenty people. The criteria will be that of under the exposed we will have ten individuals where they will separate into to the infected and the non-effected. This is the case to the non-exposed group.
