Written by Henry David Thoreau, Walden is the reflection of a simple yet meaningful lifestyle; the author uses simple yet impressive language to convey his emotions. He primarily uses the literary devices of similes and metaphors in order to suggest different connections of man with the natural world and to show his own intimacy with nature. Throughout the text, Henry David Thoreau uses various convincing words to compare two things that are usually considered dissimilar. From these observations, I have concluded that the author has a deep interest in natural things. He seems to be aware of how to beautifully express features of lakes, mountains, forests, valleys, and other similar things.
