Ethical responsibility refers to distinguishing, understanding, and acting upon certain principles and values based on the standards in a specific context. In a classroom setting, students are trained to explore various dynamics surrounding ethical practices and behavior to comprehend the best ways to make decisions and resolve conflict. There is a widely held belief that business success usually occurs at the expense of ethical values. However, most young business enterprises are founded on the principle of decency and trust between business entrepreneurs and their suppliers, employees, and, most importantly, their consumers. Asides from these stereotypes, ethical principles are essential for conducting excellent and effective business deals. For employers, ethical responsibility entails paying employees fairly and providing a conducive working environment that does not destroy them, whether physically or mentally. However, big companies such as Walmart are well known for their enormous profits though they do not pay their employees the fair wages they have earned for their hard and loyal work (Burton, 2021). It is unethical for employers to provide uncomfortable working conditions as this may destroy their business and develop an unhealthy culture of distrust, leading to costly lawsuits.
Employees are mandated to work ethically in their work environments. They need to participate in work that is in alignment with their income level. They also need to continuously produce high-quality work even when their employers are not micromanaging them. Employees who engage in ethical behavior do not steal and do not pretend to be working when they do nothing. All businesses are mandated to treat their customers ethically. This includes the principle of financial honesty, which involves giving the customers the correct amount of change and refunding them their money whenever they seem dissatisfied. It is also inclusive of providing goods and services that are worth their price. The unique association between a business and its loyal customers is founded on the principle that a business will do its best to avoid putting its customers at risk.
A good example is in the automotive industry when manufacturers ensure that they make brake systems that work effectively and efficiently in cars. Another important aspect involves treating suppliers ethically by honoring and adhering to their terms of conditions, such as timely payments. It is imperative for business owners to be honest with their suppliers about the shipments that they have received and to raise alerts when there are specific shipments that they have missed (McNamara, 2021). Suppliers also need to be rewarded with excellent service due to their loyalty instead of jumping from one supplier to another simply because of their prices.
Ethics in business refers to the set standards that guide the moral choices made by business-minded individuals daily. Some people consider themselves to be more morally ethical than others. From a customer perspective, ethical challenges in a business revolve around being sure that what is being said is true and which businesses have higher ethical standards than other businesses. From a business perspective, business ethics issues revolve around the certainty that one partner can be believed and that they will do what they claim they will do. The two main ethical values of business owners are fairness and honesty. In terms of productivity, workers believe that when they are treated fairly, they have the mandate of working harder to enable the organization to achieve its objectives. For example, avoiding the bad job market would lead to greater productivity as employees would be motivated to work, translating into higher profits and lower production costs. Employers also have a higher chance of retaining their employees due to increased job opportunities for high economic reasons. When dealing with customers, business owners may be tempted to make questionable decisions.
A significant example of this is the lack of disclosure of information about a specific product. This usually disadvantages the customer because they may not be aware of the right questions they can ask. The result of operating a business in this manner is that the customers are usually never satisfied. There is a high probability that the customers will not buy from the business again or even give their recommendations. This negatively affects profit and income generation since gaining new customers usually involves extra market costs. On the contrary, selling to an already existing customer is not costly. Companies that build a reputation for maintaining high ethical standards are usually revered in the industry. They may be recognized as the best environments to work in, which may lead to an influx of talented employees in the business. As a result, the company may gain a competitive edge (Kim et al.,2021). Most ethical organizations also have an easy time when it comes to customer attraction. Customers believe that when it comes to ethical businesses, they will not be sold inferior goods, neither will they be charged for unnecessary repairs or maintenance fees.
Political, Social and Environmental Responsibility: Afghanistan/ Taliban (War)
Chaotic scenes accompanied the return of the Taliban to power in Kabul, Afghanistan. The group managed to retake power after Joe Biden, the president of the United States, decided to remove the remaining troops from the nation. This withdrawal marked a two-decade military presence in Afghanistan. It led to the Afghan government's quick downfall, which made the Taliban create their political order referred to as the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. Many Americans supported this withdrawal when it was first announced by Joe Biden back in April 2021. However, it has come with notable disadvantages for Afghanistan residents. The Taliban publicly violated human rights and specifically those of women. The withdrawal decision will likely lead to endless suffering over the next coming years. However, hypothetically speaking, choosing to remain in Afghanistan would have endangered the lives of American soldiers. Ethically speaking, deciding to withdraw military troops from Afghanistan might have been seen as the best option. However, there is a high chance that human rights violations would be the result of this withdrawal. Women and girls in Afghanistan have a high chance of facing abuses, and residents of Afghanistan have a high probability of facing violence as the Taliban aim to restore their vision of shariah law (Johnson, 2021). This will mean trouble for political leaders and voters who supported this withdrawal. It is the role of the United States to ensure that wrongs have been minimized as much as possible. It is the political responsibility of the United States to provide refuge for people who have undertaken specific risks in the name of the United States, such as language translators who operated within Afghan territory because the Taliban may target them for their work. Secondly, the United States is obligated to avoid engaging in similar situations in the future. However, researchers suggest that it is nearly impossible to avoid situations whereby the United States is in moral dilemmas. Exerting power over other people usually involves taking risks and moral luck, and the United States is no exception, especially in the global community.
In terms of social responsibility, there is a need to address issues concerning human rights, freedom of expression, and ending war crimes in Afghanistan. For this to be a possibility, human rights activists ...
