Thomas Paine is known for his arguments that "one has to either believe in Christianity or abandon the idea of extraterrestrials" (Tajbakhsh, 2020). In work published in the Age of Reason, he aims to argue against fundamental Christian belief, particularly the idea of incarnation and its consistency (Paine, 1875). Notably, Paine states that the idea that Christ incarnation happened is inconsistent with the doctrine of plurality of the world.
