According to Today, children's nurses in the UK are faced with the challenge of obesity among children (Paterson, 2013). Therefore, it is crucial for these nurses understands the factors contributing to obese and overweight problems and help children together with their families enhance balanced diets and healthy lifestyles. Low self-esteem, reduced levels of children's activities are some of the effects of obesity in children. Furthermore, these children are at a risk of being diagnosed with cancer, cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes later in life. The causes of obesity in children can be related to the parents' contribution. In this case, parents fail to encourage healthy meals, exposing children to unhealthy food and routine choices.
