Argumentative Conversation Between Two People
Your assignment for this unit involves analyzing a conversation and breaking down the elements of conclusion, premises, assumptions, and extraneous material.
Using the Unit II Assignment Template , write a dialogue (short conversation) between two people. Make sure that each person provides the other with an argument. Each argument must have a conclusion and at least two premises. Since it is a conversation, each person should also state some extraneous material. After you are done writing the dialogue, fill out each part of the dialogue elements. You will need a conclusion and at least two premises, two assumptions, and two pieces of extraneous material for each speaker.

Two friends meet at the doctor’s waiting lounge
Tony: Hi Lorna, it’s been a while; what have you been up to?
Lorna: Nothing much. I have been pretty sick this year and spent much of my time in hospital beds. I thought I was going to die when I was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer. However, I relaxed a bit when I learned that it was in the second stage, as it meant that I could get cured with the right medical approach.
Tony: I am so sorry to hear about that; cancer is a pretty deadly disease. You are so courageous to speak about it so plainly. I hate hospitals. Every time I have to come here, I cringe at the thought of all the silence and uncertainty. Hospitals remind me that death beckons. I am scared of dying, and I am amazed to see how hopeful you are in your state.
Lorna: There is no need to think about what we have no control over. I am prepared for death; I have set everything in motion when it comes for me. You see, as much as I am hopeful that all will be well, I know that doctors are not God. They can only do their part, and the rest is up to God. I have read and seen testimonies of people who have been cured of cancer. Anyway, what brings you here?
