World History Paper: The Crusades, The Christian Empire

The Crusades were crucial acts of the Christian Empire that molded the world as it is today. The people of Europe then had different motivations and inspirations that led them to join the pilgrimages that would later form with a tinge of war, violence, and plunder.
During those times, different groups of people were called upon to support the Church sanctioned holy war that was generally promoted to the people as an effort to reclaim control of the holy land, Jerusalem, from Islamic Rule. This was a central inspiration that led to the energy that drove the Crusades on, but different groups also had deeper motivations that led them to join the Crusades.
