Many nations were colonized by the western powers while some were not colonized at all. Therefore, when it comes to development some nations will definitely be ahead of others. Japan for example was never colonized but it did build a colonial empire to help protect its culture. Some of the colonized nations developed faster because of the impact that their colonial master had on them while others stagnated because the colonial masters exploited their resources to develop their own country.
