Environmental Landscape Student Name Institution Course Professor Date Introduction Oregon's rich wildlife and attractive coastlines are some of the attributes that make it most well-known. In this state, problems in the environmental context of air quality are often fire smoke, industrial emissions, and transportation pollution. Waterproof pollution sources include agricultural runoff, industrial discharges, and disposal of old wastewater infrastructure (Kumar et al., 2021). As one of the actors in finding a solution to these problems, Oregon falls in with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) federal legal system and Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (ODEQ) specific Oregon plans. Federal Legislative Process for Environmental Regulations The legislative process includes legal instruments such as the law that Congress writes, makes, and passes, as well as the air and water quality through a legislative process through which the president signs the law. Most important are the CAA (Clean Air Act) and the Clean Water Act (CWA). Federal agencies, like the EPA, decide when laws take effect. The Clean Air Act says the EPA must set national air quality standards. Moreover, under CWA, this agency usually administers water quality standards. These rules have been readdressed as the public avails itself of new scientific data (EPA Oregon, 2024). EPA usually works closely with some state entities, such as the ODEQ, to ensure full compliance and address the regional necessity of some environmental initiatives. Air and Water Quality Issues in Oregon Oregon's air is a mix of natural and human-made factors. Climate change has made wildfire smoke a growing problem and a source of dangerous particulate matter. Vehicular emissions, as well as industrial pollution, plague urban areas such as Portland. For this purpose, Oregon has adopted air quality permitting, burn bans under the Federal Air Rules for Reservations (FARR), and state-level transportation initiatives favoring electric vehicles (EPA Oregon, 2024). Legacy contamination, nitrates, and pesticides from agricultural runoff flowing into the stream...
