Disasters are facts or events that lead to unfortunate consequences for people (Ronan & Johnston, 2005). The causes of disasters can be artificial or natural, and the intensity of suffering depends on the extent of a disaster. Occurrence, mortality, morbidity, and destruction of property by disasters trigger individual despair, mistrust, and struggles by healthcare providers (Zhou et al., 2018).
During disasters, spiritual considerations play an essential part in the aftermath of disasters to individuals, the community, and healthcare personnel (Newton & McIntosh, 2009). Individuals question their morality and actions regarding their spiritualism, whether pagan or religious. They may believe that they have fallen short of their spiritual norms and therefore view disasters as punishment from God and the deities they believe in (Newton & McIntosh, 2009).
