Executive Summary (Benchmark Assessment)
Every professional needs some refreshment and upgrade in their professional skills to improve their job performance. After careful evaluation of our workplace, I found it necessary to have a quality improvement program for members of staff and the people they serve. As health professionals, quality improvement initiatives are vital in enhancing the quality of service for health professionals and consequently improve the livelihood of the patients. This quality improvement and awareness program will be carried at the workplace facility and within the surrounding of the workplace. This program will be coordinated with officials from the regional headquarters and the Centre for Disease Control.
The target audience for this program is the members of the public and the health professionals handling patients with infectious disease. Over the recent past, there has been an increase in a number of occurrences of infectious disease (William & Nelson, 2014). A recent case has been the case of Ebola virus. Ebola virus has caused a significant health threat across the whole world. Increasingly, medical professions have been under high risk of contracting the disease. Many health care professionals and governments have recognized that Ebola virus is a major health problem that causes rapid death to thousands of people within a short period. In the largest- ever statistics released by the center for disease control in July 20, 2014, it has been reported that the recent Ebola attack in the west African countries of Liberia, Guinea-Bissau, and recently Nigeria has over 60% mortality. The health care setting is supposed to offer the society and members of public a critical opportunity for cure and prevention of any disease. However, this is not true in most of the areas affected with this deadly disease.
To address this issue of health professionals being at risk of Ebola infections and subsequent death, this program intend to create awareness to the medical professionals on how to manage such patients (Kirch 2008). The project is meant to enhance the health professional’s abilities to protect themselves from any infections from patients. It is also intended to give the health professionals up- to- date skills that will help them manage patients with infectious diseases like...
