As a nurse leader, it is important to understand a variety of leadership models and styles. This will help you adapt to different settings and apply strategies to support and inspire others. It may also be necessary to apply models in different professional settings to satisfy certification requirements.
This assignment is composed of two parts, a graphic organizer and a written paper.
Part I: Graphic Organizer
Research five leadership models and styles. One model must be transformational leadership.
Design a graphic organizer to compare servant leadership with the other models. Consider how these models or styles bring about organizational, team, or individual change or growth. How do leaders implement each of the models and how do they fit with your personal beliefs?
Part II: Personal Model of Leadership Paper
Write a 1,000-1,250 word paper about your personal model of leadership, including the following:
(1) How may your personal model of leadership be applied in your professional setting?
(2) How does your personal model of leadership compare to the models you researched for the graphic organizer?
(3) Does your personal model follow the lines of servant leadership or transformational leadership?
Submit the graphic organizer and paper to your instructor.

Personal model of leadership
Transformational leadership is a perfect style that is can be used in nursing. This is relative to the fact that, nursing requires teamwork to achieve the goals of the patient, certification and even those of the individuals. Ideally, every other member of the professional team, has some significant inputs that they bring to the treatment plans (Lin, MacLennan, Hunt & Cox, 2015). This means that, using the approach were every other professional brings to the table their insights is a crucial element to the success of the plans. The application of the transformational leadership takes an almost natural direction when considered against the various players on the team. Professionally, transformational leadership approach, helps the various players in their group to make active contributions to the treatment plans and the objectives of the team (Lin, MacLennan, Hunt & Cox, 2015).
When compared to other models, this is a rather superior leadership style. When compared to the transactional leadership approach, the latter uses a system that mainly focuses on the followers and the ability of the leaders to control the rest of the teams (Sherman & Habel, 2017). As such the team members do not have the ability to make their independent decisions which could easily impact the outcomes of the treatment in a positive manner ("How Nursing Leadership Styles Can Impact Patient Outcomes and Organizational Performance | Bradley University Online", 2017). Ideally, the leader is focused on the performance of the team when compared to the transformational leader who focuses on the larger picture as well as the growth of the team at the individual levels (Sherman & Habel, 2017). However it is also crucial to mention that, in the case of an emergency, the leader is able to control the situation with much ease and efficiency.
