In nursing practice, accurate identification and application of research is essential to achieving successful outcomes. Being able to articulate the information and successfully summarize relevant peer-reviewed articles in a scholarly fashion helps to support the student's ability and confidence to further develop and synthesize the progressively more complex assignments that constitute the components of the course change proposal capstone project.
For this assignment, the student will provide a synopsis of eight peer-reviewed articles from nursing journals using an evaluation table that determines the level and strength of evidence for each of the eight articles. The articles should be current within the last 5 years and closely relate to the PICOT statement developed earlier in this course. The articles may include quantitative research, descriptive analyses, longitudinal studies, or meta-analysis articles. A systematic review may be used to provide background information for the purpose or problem identified in the proposed capstone project. Use the "Literature Evaluation Table" resource to complete this assignment.
While APA style is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and in-text citations and references should be presented using APA documentation guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.

The nursing field has been experiencing some challenges relative to the number of nurses that re working to offer patient quality care. Nursing staff shortages have been a global issue for some time now, with some of the nursing organization and administrative bodies making changes to the policies to try and deal with the crisis. This is a challenge that also leads to other huddles and in particular patient care quality, the well-being of the nurses and the general quality of the profession progression. There are number of researches that have been conducted to try and bring out the basic attributes of the challenge along with some subtle recommendations for the same.

The department of health in Minnesota convened a meeting in which experts in the field were required to debate the best methodology of assessing the situation. The team was also required to review the various research material that exists relative to the situation and come up with a research methodology that would best collect data as pertains to the nursing shortage situation. the analysis in the paper includes the data collected from one of the hospitals among 39 that were requested to offer invaluable data. The report further indicates that there is a positive correlation between the patient outcomes and the nursing shortages. According to the report, high levels of nurse staffing were associated with low levels of patient mortality, less drug administration errors and reduced patient falls.

Missed nursing care is one of the leading causes of poor satisfaction among the patients. Nurses are part of the primary care system and as such, have a subtle impact on the satisfaction of the patient. According to the study that was carried out Eileen, Hayley and Molly, the nurses are part of the primary care system and they affect the way that the patient care is delivered and hence the quality of the outcomes. In the study, the researchers try to establish the impact of missed care from the nurses to their patients. This is a crucial element and one that helps to better understand the impact of the nursing shortage on the quality of care to the patient. More importantly, it helps with understand the levels of satisfaction associated with the patients. The research findings indicate that missed care is one of the aspects that affects quality of care and patient satisfaction in the United States.

This is in reference to the fact that there is a shortage of the nursing staff. Ideally due to the fact that, there is a shortage, most of the nurses that are working have to handle pressure from the low levels of staff. In the methodology, the study used the cross-sectional correlational approach. Using this approach helps establish the impact across the different health care institutions. In the results of the study there were elements of increase in the emotional exhaustion, patient falls increased, medication errors and patient infections. The study further identified recommendations, in reference to collaboration between the nurses and the administration to establish strategies that reduce the level of workload, in reference to low levels of staffing.
