Lack of Insurance Coverage Among Low-Class Citizens
Purpose
The Topic Search Strategy paper is the first of three related assignments. The purpose of this initial paper is to briefly describe your search strategies when identifying two articles that pertain to an evidence-based practice topic of interest.
Course outcomes: This assignment enables the student to meet the following course outcomes.
CO 1: Examine the sources of knowledge that contribute to professional nursing practice. (PO 7)
CO 2: Apply research principles to the interpretation of the content of published research studies. (POs 4 and 8)
Due date: Your faculty member will inform you when this assignment is due. The Late Assignment Policy applies to this assignment.
Total points possible: 160 points
Preparing the assignment:
Follow these guidelines when completing this assignment. Speak with your faculty member if you have questions.
1) Students will be placed into groups by the end of the second week of the session. The groups will work together to select a practice problem of interest as the focus for the three RUA assignments in this course. The practice topic of interest will also be used to complete week 3 and week 5 independent student assignments, as well as a group PowerPoint presentation in week 7.
- Individuals will complete this assignment independently for weeks 3 and 5.
- Teams must assure that members do not use the same articles when completing this assignment.
- Please make sure you do not duplicate articles within your group.
- Paper should be 3-4 content pages in length. Title and reference pages are required but are excluded from 3-4 -page length.
2) The paper will include the following sections:
- Clinical Question (45 points/28%)
- Describe the problem. What is the focus of your group’s work?
- Explain the significance of the problem in terms of patient outcomes. What health outcomes result from your problem? Or what statistics document this is a problem? You may find support on websites for government or professional organizations.
- PICOT question in support of the group topic.
- State the purpose of your paper. What will your paper do or describe? This is like a problem
statement. “The purpose of this paper is to . . .”
- Levels of Evidence (20 points/13%)
- Identify the type of question being asked (therapy, prognosis, meaning, etc.).
- What is the best type of evidence to answer that question (e.g., RCT, cohort study, qualitative study, etc.)?
- Search Strategy (65 points/41%)
- List search terms and results.
- Databases used (start with the CU library). Link your search with the PICOT question described above.
- Refinement decisions. As you did your search, what decisions did you make in refinement to get your required articles down to a reasonable number for review? Were any limits used? If so, what?
- Identification of two (2) most relevant articles (primary sources published within the last 5 years).
- Format (30 points/18%)
- Correct grammar and spelling.
- Include a title page.
- Use of headings for each section.
- Clinical Question, Levels of Evidence, Search Strategy, and Conclusion
- Adheres to current APA formatting and guidelines.
- 3-4 pages in length, excluding title and reference pages.

Clinical Question
Insurance coverage is an essential element of the healthcare system designed to improve the health status of the underlying individuals. Most patients within the low and middle social class exhibit limited ability to meet the medical bills that accrue during the process of medication. However, a larger proportion of the population within the United States lacks the stipulated coverage. The rate of uninsured people within the United States accounts for about 10.9%. This implies that a huge population portion is at risk of being exposed to dynamic health complications that may not be treated in time. The stipulated work focuses on the population portion that has not been insured and the underlying effects of the scenario on the patients.
The people that lack insurance health coverage are more susceptible to having limited outpatient services regularly than the insured people. The stipulated population section is likely to be hospitalized for a favourable health complication and to exhibit a steady decline in health complications. The presence of health insurance among the patients ensures that the stipulated individuals receive high-quality medical care that is affordable and effective in all dynamics. The coverage lowers the burden of hospital bills for the patient's family, thus making it easy for the designated patient to exhibit dynamic, high-quality health in both outpatient and inpatient centres (Davidoff et al., 2018). The absence of health insurance coverage among individuals results in increased health complications that result in a high mortality rate within the environment. The overall outcome of the patient's health declines significantly due to the underlying condition.
The health outcomes that result from the stipulated problem are poor quality service delivery to the patient and increased mortality. The patient exhibits limited access to high-quality care within the healthcare facilities due to high medical bills that the family and other individuals cannot meet. The patient's condition is also worsening due to poor quality service exposure to the people. The United States has experienced a higher rate of community members that lack health insurance coverage. It hinders the life expectancy of these population sections within the community. It has resulted in the emergence of a significant question: In medical facilities, what is the impact of lack of insurance coverage on the mortality rate of the patients compared to the presence of insurance coverage on an annual basis?
The main purpose of this paper is to provide a concrete analysis of the impact of lack of insurance coverage on the low social class and middle-class citizens within the nation. Special emphasis will be based on the underlying factors of the economy and the type of insurance coverage available.
Level of Evidence
The type of questions being asked in the research article is the type of insurance coverage used within the designated sample population. There is private insurance coverage and comprehensive coverage that has been extensively used in the research conducted. The other question in the stipulated research is what type of employment one holds in the current state. The other question generated in the study is, what is each patient's eligibility for Medicaid services? These are some of the questions generated based on establishing evidence-based research conducted.
The best evidence to answer the stipulated questions includes pre-ACA Medicaid eligibility criteria. Here, only adults are eligible for the Medicaid expansion a...
