As a future Clinical Nurse Practitioner (CNP), one concern that comes to mind is patient noncompliance with medication regimens. The issue primarily occurs at the micro level, as it pertains to individual patients and their specific behaviors and actions.
To address this issue, I would first assess the root cause of the patient’s noncompliance with the given medication regimens. To this end, I would focus on evaluating the patient's understanding of their medication regimen, identifying any barriers to taking their medications and assessing for any side effects that may be causing the patient to discontinue their medications (Stirratt et al., 2020). Once the root cause has been identified, I would work with the patient to develop a personalized plan that can improve medication regimen compliance. The key components of the personalized plan would comprise patient education explaining the importance of taking their medications as prescribed, addressing any barriers to medication adherence, and making medication adjustments to address side effects.
