The outbreaks, for instance, the COVID-19 pandemic, emphasize the necessity of preventing the spread of illnesses. Through an integration of personal hygienic protocols, social distancing measures, vaccination efforts and compliance with public health guidelines, both individuals and communities can be the key in stopping the spread of infectious diseases. This article examines strategies to stopping the spread of infections, which highlights the concept of social accountability, where people care for each other’s health. Firstly, hand hygiene is a fundamental method regulating the spread of infections in clinical settings. Regular handwashing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds should be done, especially after one becomes a public space guest or touches a surface to ensure pathogens removal. Furthermore, the use of alcohol containing hand sanitizers with at least 60% alcohol is recommended when there is no readily available soapy water. People can diminish immensely the possibility of such contagious agents being spread through hand-to-face contact that is made by simply maintaining good hand hygiene (Güner et al., 2020; Xiao & Torok, 2020). Secondly, respiratory hygiene is yet another major aspect of disease prevention. By using a tissue or arm as a barrier while coughing or sneezing, the person can then prevent the spread of respiratory droplets where the viruses and bacteria may hide.
