Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) in Healthcare
We have read a significant amount regarding evidence. However, evidence-based decision making and practice boils down to OUR ....yours and mine....application of what we have read.
For this discussion forum, please answer the following questions in 150 words,or more:
1. As a Health or Service provider how do you make certain that your clients receive, evidenced-based information and care?
2. What sources would you/do you refer them to, and how would you/do you help them to understand the importance and value of evidence-based information, practice and decision-making? In other words, how would you explain the concept of evidence-based practice to your patients/clients?
3. What constrains your evidenced based behaviors...in other words, what factors make it difficult for you to use evidence based behaviors?
This course is about recognizing and using evidence. So, in order to earn full points, you will need to support each of your postings with the appropriate evidence.

Module Two: Discussion One
Evidence-based Practice (EBP) carefully integrates scientific and current research, clinical expertise and experience, and the expectations and goals of the patient to formulate important decisions during health care. All patients must receive evidence-based care and information. To ensure this happens, the healthcare provider must conduct a complete patient assessment and formulate clinical questions relating to their care. Secondly, the provider must carefully look for high-quality evidence. They should then analyze the evidence and define its validity, potential effects, and relevance to the patient's case (Melnyk et al., 2018). The next step should be articulating evidence findings with the provider's clinical experience and best practices. Here, the patient's wishes and concerns should be addressed and considered before arriving at a definitive treatment and diagnostic decision. The final step includes a complete evaluation of the outcome and sharing the information with other healthcare providers to instill combined clinical knowledge and improved practice in the future.
There are various sources from which patients would understand the concept of EBP. These sources include systematic research, medical journals, and publications (Melnyk et al., 2018). To help patients understand the importance and value of evidence-based information, practice, and decision-making, the goal of EBP should be taught beforehand. The main goal of EBP is to incorporate quality research, alongside patient preferences and clinical experiences, into healthcare practice (Melnyk & Fineout-Overholt, 2022). Ultimately, it helps healthcare providers make informed patient-centered decisions.
Several factors constrain the use of EBP in healthcare practice. These factors include organizational issues, especially regarding cost (Alqahtani et al., 2022). They also include patient issues, such as their lack of compliance due to cultural, personal, religious, and spiritual beliefs. Other barriers include the time limitation and a need for more motivation to employ EBP in clinical practice.
