Public health services put more emphasis on promoting and protecting the health of an entire population, while health care focuses on treating and diagnosing an individual patient. The government is responsible for public health by identifying determinants of health such as education, employment and working conditions, clean environment, income, and social status. According to Dr Benjamin, educating society significantly reduces the death rate. Also, she argues that financial position is directly proportional to the physical health of individuals ( APB, 2020).
Further, public health serves three core functions. First, assessment is to monitor a population's health status to identify and solve a community health problem. For instance, during Covid-19, the geriatric population accounted for a higher number of deaths associated with the Virus compared to individuals lower than 65 years old (Cubanski et al.,2022). Essentially, diagnosing and investigating are significant during the assessment. For Covid-19, laboratory support played a crucial role in fighting the disease.
