Critical Reflection on Psychotherapy Philosophy
Therapeutic modalities are crucial approaches that are used among healthcare professionals to ensure that patients achieve healthcare goals. In most cases, therapy is used to support healthy behaviors or the healing process. For example, therapy is known to be an effective way to ensure that pain relief is achieved. Therapeutic modalities fall under behavioral, cognitive, humanistic, and integrative categories, where therapists have the professional understanding to determine which therapeutic modality to apply. Tambuyzer et al. (2020) shed light on the importance of diverse therapeutic modalities since they help healthcare professionals develop their own philosophies in approaching addiction and mental health cases. In fact, every healthcare professional has a unique approach to applying the modalities, thus distinguishing their approach to healthcare provision. Critically reflecting on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-based interventions therapeutic modalities and their influence on my personal developing philosophy helps in appreciating the role of the modalities in guaranteeing quality healthcare services provision.

For instance, in the case of drug addiction, a simple problem is usually the cause of consistent uptake of drugs. CBT is an effective approach since it unearths the specific reasons and triggers for drug usage and abuse. For instance, an individual might be having a troubled home environment where their partner is either physically verbally abusive, or there are cases of neglect, which lead to the individual taking drugs. In such an instance, CBT simplifies the use of drugs from the trigger, thus ensuring that an individual finds an effective solution to the home issues and ensures that the patient changes their thinking on how drug use and abuse helps. In fact, the depression from home issues that are intensified by drug abuse is well managed using CBT.
Mindfulness-based interventions are a modality that assesses how an individual thinks and seeks to evaluate the sense of awareness and perception of their physical, mental, and emotional states. Zhang et al. (2021) appreciate the role that mindfulness-based ...
