Spencer Shawnee State University School of Nursing BSNR 4454-91 Dr. Crystal Sherman Due Date Planning and Implementation Following the socioeconomic stressors and substance use issues suggesting ineffective coping within the Portsmouth community, a domineering health intervention would be population-focused in nature. For instance, the "Pathways to Resilience" intervention aims to bolster community resources and enhance mental health access, social support, and addiction recovery services. This intervention's goals are SMART, targeting to minimize opioid-related deaths by approximately 30% within 2 years and increase participation in recovery initiatives by 40%. The primary objectives of the initiative include providing transportation to optimize health access, holding outreach programs, and intensifying naloxone distribution. According to data presented by the National Institute of Drug Abuse (NIDA), naloxone training programs have been successful in most rural areas, demonstrating the efficacy of peer recovery coaching within communities (Seliski et al., 2024). The data from NIDA is an example of a primary source supporting this intervention. On the contrary, CDC guidelines on opioid abuse prevention and reports from Ohio Health Departments are secondary sources that can be presented advocating for harm reduction measures (RecoveryOhio, 2023; CDC, 2022). Therefore, these sources will be thoroughly evaluated for reliability, applicability, and relevance to fit Portsmouth's setting. The implementation plan spans 24 months. During the first month, the potential stakeholders, such as The Counseling Center, Shawnee Family Health Center, local police, etc., will be engaged.
