Appendicular skeleton
The appendicular skeleton comprises the upper and lower limbs' bones and is responsible for the body's movement and support. In total, the appendicle skeleton has 126 bones, 63 on each side (Marieb & Smith, 2016).Upper limbs: The upper limbs comprise the humerus or bone of the arm, ulna, radius (bones of the forearm), metacarpals (bones of the palm), carpal bones (bones of the wrist), and phalanges (bones of the fingers).
Lower limbs: The lower limbs comprise the hip bone, femur (thigh bone), patella (knee bone), tibia and fibula (leg bones), tarsal bones, metatarsals, and phalanges (finger bones).
