Albinism is a genetic disorder whereby one's skin, hair, and eyes tend to have little or no color. The lack of color can be attributed to the inadequate production of the pigment melanin. In essence, the color of a person's skin, hair, or eyes is determined by the amount of melanin produced by their bodies (Marçon & Maia, 2019). More so, melanin is also essential in enhancing optic nerves' development (Marçon & Maia, 2019). As a result, most people with albinism are usually associated with having vision problems. In 2018, a report by the National Organization of Albinism and Hypopigmentation stated that 1 in about 18000 to 20000 persons in the U.S. tends to have a form of albinism (Marçon & Maia, 2019). In this regard, albinism is a rare disorder that has enormous impacts on the affected persons.
