1. Read pages 51-68 of your text and conduct a Read Aloud. The text gives information on whole group story reading. After reading the text, conduct a whole group read aloud to a group of toddlers or preschoolers. Your read aloud should include a story introduction and discussion afterward. Use the text to guide your planning.
Second, write at least a 3-page reflection. CITE information from the text to support your lesson. In it should include:
• The child appropriate book you chose and why?
• A detailed description of the room environment: group size and age of students.
• Where did you sit? Where were the children seated? (Cited from the text pg. 51)
• How did you introduce the story for first reading? See page 53. Include all 4 points.

REFLECTION ABOUT READ ALOUD TO CHILDREN
After reading the required pages on the text, I was able to conduct a read Aloud to a group of preschoolers.
I chose a book titled “I Will Help You” by Andrea Abbott. I particularly chose this because it is about helping others and also helping those who helped you in return. This is a good book for children to encourage them to help others.
The book recommendation online says it is a good book for 2-5 years old or pre-kinder toddlers, which is just right for the audience. It is a standard-sized book and not a big one so as to not divert the attention of the children from listening to the teacher (Beck and McKeown 2001). The book has illustrations which are easy to understand. The children can already understand the story basing on the illustrations since most of them cannot read yet. The text is also very short so the children won’t get too bored while the story teller is reading.
There were fourteen students in total packed in a forty-square-meter room. There were about four windows in each of two of the room’s walls. It was bright enough because of the windows even without the light on. Each child is seated on a chair. The students were from four to five years of age.
I was seated in front of the students in the middle. The children were seated in chairs. They formed about three rows with five students on the first, five on the second and four on the last. The shorter ones were seated on the first row. Seats were arranged in a staggered manner for better view. I asked the children at the back if they can see the illustrations on the book. They all replied yes.
I first provided some rules to the students before starting the Read Aloud. I asked them to be quiet while I am reading. They may ask me some questions by raising their hands. I also instructed that if I raise my hands and then gesture a closed fist, it means “please keep quiet” so they have to keep quiet and listen.
