Leadership Perspective Development Plan
Essay Instructions:
Leaders actively pursue continual development. Development plans ensure we build on existing strengths and areas for improvement (Dann, 2022).
In this assignment, you will self-assess your skills and experience in applying the eight leadership perspectives presented in Chapter 2 of Dann’s Managing and Leading Nonprofit Organizations: A Framework for Success (2022). Then, you will compose a 1- to 2-page leadership development plan to make targeted improvements in applying one of the perspectives.
Step 1
Review the module readings, presentations, and discussion. Reflect on how well you currently demonstrate each of Dann’s eight perspectives.
Download the ACE Leadership Perspectives Development Plan Template and complete the self-assessment on page 1. Replace bracketed text with your own.
Choose one of the perspectives you scored the lowest as a focus for development. Compose one paragraph justifying your score of the perspective. Incorporate evidence from the textbook.
Step 2
Cite Dann (2022) and at least two additional sources in your plan.
Use the following questions to guide your research:
How does the leadership perspective inform how leaders act in organizational contexts?
How does this leadership perspective address organizational challenges?
How do organizational factors interact with this leadership perspective (e.g., culture, structure, industry dynamics, etc.)?
Synthesize the information from the sources to evaluate how leadership theory informs practice.
Step 3
Compose a development plan to make targeted improvements at applying the identified leadership perspective.
Your plan must include:
One SMART goal
At least two resources and/or actions needed to meet your goal
At least one strategy you will use to meet your goal
At least one mentor

This score is justifiable because I often find myself occupied with the desire to see myself as a top leader rather than concentrating on the diverse experiences, exposures, and interactions that are gradually molding and preparing me for such an achievement. Dann (2022) recognizes that obsession with the destination is an understandable weakness one should overcome to revel in and enjoy the growth journey. Thus, I will design a plan to address this is...
