Engaging Stakeholder Groups
Collaborating with stakeholder groups helps us evolve and grow as leaders. Stakeholders help us engage in reflective practices to determine how best to meet our organization's and others' needs. While most of these experiences are positive, sometimes, we face challenges. Confrontations, heated discussions, and disagreements are possible when diverse perspectives are shared.
Think about the current stakeholder groups in your context. Develop an original response to the following prompts:
What challenges have you experienced in engaging and collaborating with internal and external stakeholder groups?
How could these challenges be alleviated? Describe two strategies. Depending on the situation, these may be two approaches to the same group or approaches you would use with different groups.

Engaging Stakeholder Groups
In a health setting, engaging internal and external stakeholder groups provides a platform for growth and leadership. However, such an engagement also comes with a few downsides. One major difficulty is that there are many opinions within the community, and those differences in opinion can erupt into conflict and confrontation (Lynch, 2018). Internal stakeholders like physicians, administration, and support staff often have competing priorities and perspectives on how patient care, resources, and operations should be managed. Likewise, external stakeholders, such as patients, regulatory bodies, and community groups, have diverse expectations and demands that may be at odds with the facility's goals or internal policies. Another challenge is communication barriers (Wasieleski & Weber, 2017).
