Classroom Observation Student’s Name Institutional Affiliation Classroom Observation This exercise focuses on observing and exploring a math lesson in a real school setting. The assessment was conducted at Kiddie Academy in Freehold, NJ. The targeted grade for this assessment was Pre-K. The attended subject was mathematics. Finally, the lesson was on the topic of “identifying shapes and colors”. The analysis should be vital for teachers in their practices who need to advance ways of reflecting their teaching practices thereby addressing areas that need growth and improvement. Learning Objectives The teacher outlined two objectives for the lesson. That is, by the end of the lesson: 1 Pupils should be able to identify and name the learned shapes including the circle, square, triangle, and rectangle. 2 Learners will be able to identify and name the learned colors including red, blue, yellow, and green. Introduction The teacher greeted the learners and proceeded to introduce the topic. She told them that the day’s lesson was about shapes and colors. The teacher, then, proceeded to ask the learners to name their favorite colors. After a few students had responded, the teacher displayed a colorful poster showcasing various colors and shapes. The next phase involved the actual learning engagements that included naming shapes and colors repeatedly. Method of Instruction The teacher focused on the whole-class instruction method with emphasis put on direct instruction and guided instruction. Through whole-class instruction, a teacher portions the lesson according to the needs of the students.
