Worldview Reflective Paper Student’s Name Institution of Affiliation Course Instructor Date Philosophy of Education The ideas that I have about education have changed dramatically throughout the preparation program for my class. To begin with, I had a rather fixed and even ethnocentric approach, which determined education as a process that was aimed at delivering knowledge and skills to students. This view, therefore, encouraged a teacher-oriented perspective in which the teacher did most of the informing while the students merely received. Throughout my whole course of the program, I realized the need to focus on the student at the center. I came to understand that education means more than just passing on knowledge from the teacher to the students but creating the learning environments that allow for learning to be made to happen based on the abilities of the current learners. This change in perspective has made me appreciate more the student-centered approach because students approach learning from their various backgrounds. Moreover, the meaning of the education process is not reduced only to cognition, but emphasizes the necessary thinking and emotions as well as asserted by Zembylas (2024). In the course of my learning, class work, practicals, and assignments, learning should also help to build critical abilities in the students, such as critical thinking, problem-solving ability, and debating.
