Mathematical Autobiography Student’s Name Institutional Affiliation Mathematical Autobiography If mathematics were a person, it would be my elder brother. My brother and I have a relationship that is hard to describe. That is because he is neither antagonistic nor just purely friendly to me. Instead, we love one another. With that love comes challenges at times and successes. My brother pushes me to solve problems even in times when I find it challenging. The back and forth makes me believe that our relationship can be enlightening and supportive at times while also being perplexing and demanding at other times. The earliest memory that I have relating to mathematics has to be counting. At the onset of our education, counting objects like colorful beads and blocks was a significant component of life. The experience began with just counting the objects. However, it would advance to the basic mathematical formulations like subtraction and addition. While the whole experience seemed positive and playful, it set the ground for a curious relationship that I have with mathematics. I have a range of memorable experiences with math teachers throughout my life in education. I believe that elementary school was one of the periods that I enjoyed my math lessons. In the third grade, for instance, I had a math teacher who made math so relatable by including activities like games and songs. The teacher made us sing out formulas and assess patterns logically through such activities. The teacher also seemed to enjoy the sessions, which made most learners look forward to the next lessons. In middle school, the experience changed considerably. The middle school teacher was strict and focused on learning and assessing students.
