Ethics are attracting more attention in the management circles of both the private and public sector organizations. This article performs an empirical study on the way personal factors like organizational commitment and job satisfaction, and organizational factors like rewards and ethics can shape the behavior of managers and then influence their intentions when making ethical decisions. This study concludes that organizational commitment, job commitment, rewards, and codes of ethics significantly influence how managers make ethical decisions in the gas and oil companies. This study supports previous research that found that one could find positive links between organizational and personal factors, and ethical value. It argues that future research should consider personal factors like security of tenure while carrying out this kind of research.

This paper introduces a moral diversity concept into organizational diversity literature and behavioral ethics. It proposes a theoretical model that specifies how and under what circumstances moral diversity (i.e., members of an organization espouse differing ethical systems) influences people’s eventual ethical an unethical decisions. The paper argues that moral diversity begins to become visible when members in an organization employ ethical conversations and it is within these conversations that the effect of moral diversity happens.
