Professional Interview with a Patient Liaison
Conduct an interview of a communication professional in a field you are interested applying for, this can be by phone, or in-person. You must interview someone that you do not currently know. This interview should be focused on topics such as why they chose that career, what their daily job looks like, and what they wish they knew before they started. Based on this interview and your own research, write a 750-1,000 words reflection about this career path. In this reflection you should discuss:
Why are you or why are you not drawn toward this profession?
What would be the best thing about working in this profession? What would be the worst?
How would your communication background benefit you in this profession?
What impacts could a Christian worldview have on you or someone in this profession?
In addition to the interview, your response should also reference the Here I Am textbook from this course.

I conducted an in-person interview with Jefferson White, who is a patient liaison from a public hospital. The communication professional asserted to have over five years of experience in his career. I came across White when I visited the hospital he works at accompanying my relative for a medical checkup. White told me that he chose his career to bridge the gap between healthcare providers and their patients to promote the delivery of quality medical services. The individual said that his primary objective is to facilitate effective communication between clinicians and patients and provide excellent customer service. The paper discusses the career of patient liaison based on the interview and research.
I am drawn to the profession of patient liaison since my passion is serving people, particularly during their challenging moments. Indeed, I believe that everyone deserves better care and the only way to achieve this is through excellent interpersonal communication skills and being empathetic. Christians should care compassionately by being empathic servants and kindhearted. The fruits of the Holy Spirit, namely peace, goodness, gentleness, joy, kindness, faithfulness, love, self-control, and patience, cultivate compassion (Schultze, 2005). In that light, I have what it takes to create a conducive environment where patients can feel comfortable expressing themselves, including their fears. In addition, I have the most significant qualities of a patient liaison, which include empathy, problem-solving, and excellent communication skills. I am a welcoming person who understands how to deal with individuals from different cultures, races, religions, and ethnicities. As such, I believe that everyone should be treated with respect and dignity.

In particular, I would feel to have accomplished my dream when I see patients happy after receiving quality healthcare services without any discrimination. Besides, a patient liaison has numerous duties including tracking patient medical records, retrieving patient data from electronic health records, maintaining patient data privacy and confidentiality, suggesting the best treatment options, and helping patients to make decisions freely (Abbasinia, Ahmadi, & Kazemnejad, 2020). Another significant thing about working in this profession is to be empathetic, understand patients’ feelings, and comfort them without forgetting to implement the most feasible solution. On that note, a person should remain transparent and truthful to patients so one can create the rapport needed to overcome health issues accordingly. The o...
