You will be paired with a partner, whose draft you will review; your partner will review your draft. You should offer constructive suggestions for improving the content and/or structure of the draft.Peer reviews must be respectful and constructive.
Peer reviews should help students improve their essays by offering constructive criticism –
what the author has done well and ways your partner could improve the final draft.
Specific advice about how to improve the draft. For example, if the author makes mistakes in their use of APA style, an indication of what the mistake is (e.g., the year goes after the author, in parentheses) can be more constructive than vague statements (“check for mistakes in APA style”).
You might focus on the following
(1) one or two major strengths of the work being reviewed;
(2) one or two major issues of concern; and
(3) one or two specific suggestions you have for addressing the concerns you raise.
Peer reviews should provide substantive feedback with reference to any of the following, for example:
Writing style
Grammar
Argument
Evidence
Structure
Use of sources
As much as possible, address the issues for which the author asked your help.

The paper addresses a topic of human interest, considering the rise in drug abuse by young children. The constructively analyzes the ad outlining its weaknesses and strengths of the advertisement. The major strength I observed in the paper is that it critically tackles both the ad's positive and negative sides. This is achieved through a strong thesis statement that outlines what the paper is all about. Additionally, the sections of the paper are well labelled with subheadings, which help the reader easily maneuver it. The reader can concentrate on information in specific areas.
