The ROI approach adopted is focused on improving efficiency in the hotel unlike traditional ROI which merely compares efficiency in investments. This approach helps executives to monitor the cost of operations, where there is identification of both strengths and weakness in business operations. Thus, having action plans helps to improve on opportunities identified as weaknesses. The coaching program relied on assessing the ROI through the benefits and costs of the program, and hence there was a benefit-cost ratio (BCR) which is the ratio of monetary benefits to costs, while the ROI was the ratio of net program benefits to program costs (ROI Institute, 2008).
The main strength of the ROI approach is that it took into account both the direct and indirect training costs. The direct costs were directly related to the coaching program, and purchase of materials and supplies, while indirect costs were not directly related to the coaching program.
