It led to the FBI requesting Apple, a technology company, to unlock an iPhone used by one of the shooters for purposes of determining the case and making conclusive decisions. However, the request sparked major concerns in ethical upholding, legal factors, and societal implications. As a company, Apple's stance was on maintaining customer privacy since consumers are the company's pillars. Furthermore, Apple believed the stakeholders would encounter serious consequences when they created an alternative backdoor to the company's encryption systems. Major Public Administration Issues A Balance between Privacy and Matters of National Security One of the significant public administrative issues emerging from the case study discussion involves the balance between customer privacy and national issues. Customer rights in the case had to be protected while, at the same time, law enforcement was keen on upholding national security by investigating the shooters. Therefore, analysis from a public administration point of view depicts a dilemma when formulating policies that will promote national security and avoid jeopardizing individual rights and privacy.
