Leadership Styles, Goal Clarity, and Project Success Name Institution Course and Code Professor Date Leadership Styles, Goal Clarity, and Project Success Key Research Issues The main research issues in the article focus on the link between two leadership styles and project success in project-based organizations in Pakistan, with goal clarity as a mediating factor (Raziq et al., 2018). In regard to leadership styles, the article focuses on transformational and transactional leadership approaches. In the transformational leadership approach, the main inspirational and motivational source for the followers in effecting positive change is the leader (Raziq et al., 2018). He or she gives attention to the desires and needs of followers which motivates them to reach their full potential, creating an environment of accomplishment, creativity, and trust. This approach results in a positive change in followers and encourages them to prioritize the organization's overall success. In contrast, transactional leadership is rooted in an exchange process, where leaders ensure that followers meet their contractual obligations efficiently and effectively (Raziq et al., 2018). The leader closely monitors followers' activities and addresses any deviations from expected performance standards. For contemporary organizations, understanding the link between these two leadership styles and their effects on project outcomes is crucial if they want to enhance their performance. Regarding goal clarity, the article points out that a major project requirement is that its objectives, goals, and scope are clearly communicated to all major stakeholders (Raziq et al., 2018). The article also posits that where goals are distinct to groups and individuals, the levels of performance will be higher. Contrarily, when there is no clear communication of goals, it highlights that individuals may lack clarity on the project's direction and purpose, which can ultimately lead to its failure. This shows that goal clarity plays a mediating factor between project success and leadership styles.
