Listening to the audio files from the Voyages issue of the New York Times magazine has proven a lot of my misconceptions false. Before listening to the file, one of my initial thoughts was that merely listening to other people talking would be boring, due to the existence of videos that could offer both the sound and visual cues. However, to listen fully to the audio, I closed my eyes and focused intently on the sound itself while removing any visual cues from my immediate surroundings. Surprisingly, I realised that focusing solely on the sound, delivered a distinct yet interesting experience compared to watching videos or reading magazines.
