* Data Gathering
I will collect and present data using a mixed research approach. Two types of data collection methods will be used, namely primary and secondary data collection. Primary data collection entails gathering raw data from the source. In contrast, secondary data collection involves collecting secondary data from sources such as books, journals, periodicals, and government publications (Kim et al., 2008). The quantitative technique uses closed-ended questionnaires, while qualitative research techniques use open-ended questionnaires for data collection. Secondary data collection is the most common and involves collecting second-hand data from existing sources. Choosing between the primary and secondary data gathering techniques depends on the goals, objectives, scope, and type of research (Valbuena et al., 2017). Data collection is essential since it reduces the probability of errors, ensures the integrity of research, enhances decision making, saves time and cost. Researchers can use different tools to collect data from a source.
The most common data-gathering instruments are questionnaires (paper or computer-assisted), case studies, checklists, interviews, observation, and surveys or questionnaires (Mishra et al., 2018). Data collection helps capture quality evidence that a researcher can use to make convincing and credible conclusions. The four primary data collection techniques commonly used in research are observation, questionnaire, interview, and focus groups. Interviews can be structured, semi-structured, or unstructured (Mishra et al., 2018).
