The main ideas the authors outline in this paper is that emancipation of respondents and researchers is greatly affected by choice of method of research. They present the focus groups and critical research methods as good examples of methods that bring out the emancipation in the Information System research. The methods out rule other paradigms that have been established to bring out interpretivism and positivism. Critical research perceives the world as unjust and imperfect and therefore the importance of dealing with this imperfection.
