Personality-Based Evangelism
Evangelism is also known as witnessing. In evangelism, people preach the Gospel with a pure intention of taking forward the message of Jesus Christ for the betterment of humanity. It also includes his teachings (Crutweets, 2022). There is a portion of Christians who specialize in the practice of evangelism. They are known as evangelists. Some are also in leadership positions where they preach in large meetings and government roles. There are many Christians who encourage the part of evangelists. Evangelists use gospel tracts to induce thought-provoking questions. For example: if a person was to pass away today, are they a hundred percent sure that their destination will be heaven? These evangelists follow the to-the-point approach and use Christ’s teachings, and finally, they ask for thoughtful responses from people. They answer people’s questions, as Christ cannot come here to answer them. The practice of evangelism is of three specific types.
Assertive Evangelism
In this style of evangelism, an evangelist stands before many people and verbally uses the Gospel’s teachings (Simwa, 2022). This practice can be public or private, and a person needs to do it more confidently. A pre-determined format is centered in scripture and encourages a decision.
Relational Evangelism
In this particular style, evangelists prioritize building relationships, such as strong friendships. Evangelists then share the message and teachings of the Gospel with these people.
Storytelling Evangelism
In this style, evangelists use stories of evangelized people and find common grounds and experiences to share with more people.
Analytical Evangelism
This type of evangelism is used when the person receiving the information is more analytical and logical. To convince these individuals, Evangelists must use proper facts, figures, and references from the Bible and Jesus’ teachings.
Invitational Evangelism
People are invited to the teachings of Christ and asked to come to the church or a Holy gathering to learn about the message.
Incarnational Evangelism
It involves preaching the Gospel most of the time. Evangelists use their own words to explain something when it is necessary to do so.
My primary style is incarnational (score 15), and secondary is storytelling (score 13). I never always put my point forth using stories and experiences paired with the Gospel. It is a practice that naturally occurs to me and has become a part of my personality...
