These types of substances, like alcohol and sleeping peels, are some of the most common substances people can buy in drugstores and stores, and there is no limit to how many they can buy or use. If not intervening, the excess usage of substances can result in addiction and eventually abuse, and when that happens, consultation with medical experts is needed. In this paper, the author will focus mainly on the abuse of substances in general and create a Behavior Modification Plan (BMP) for patients who are in a specialized treatment facility or outpatient individuals with substance abuse issues. Behavior Modification Plan 1 Assessment and Evaluation 1 The treatment shall start with a thorough initial investigation of the patient's medical background and current living environment. The severity of the addictiveness and also the nature of the substance that they are addicted to shall be understood and taken into consideration when developing a conclusion of what will be the treatment be like. 2 Individualized Treatment Plans 2 After assessing the nature of the substance and the patient's medical background, an individualized plan shall be made. In this phase, evidence-based treatment such as cognitive behavioral therapy shall be used as the source of the problem mainly because of the person's mindset. 3 Sometimes, the patient's surroundings contribute to substance misuse. Treat underlying problems that may be causing substance abuse, such as trauma, family relationships, or socioeconomic concerns. 3 Long Term Treatment 4 The patient can be admitted to a specialized medical facility that focuses on creating a place where individuals can focus solely on their recovery without distractions or triggers from the outside world. 5 If the patient wants to be treated at home, certain instructions and guidelines should be made in order to make sure that the factors in their home do not trigger any sense of using the drug again. 4 Holistic Approach to Wellness 6 For patients that are situated in the specialized medical center, the integration of holistic therapies such as mindfulness meditation, yoga, art therapy, and nutrition counseling to promote overall well-being and address underlying issues contributing to substance abuse. Due to its ability to foster increased self-awareness, emotional control, and stress reduction, meditation can be a helpful aid in the battle against addiction (Meditation for Addiction Recovery and Substance Abuse Treatment, n.d.).
