I have learned that the spread of wrong information is called infodemic. In particular, wrong information can be spread through disinformation or misinformation. Misinformation entails spreading false information unknowingly or unintentionally. In contrast, disinformation entails spreading false information intentionally (Dictionary.com, 2022). For instance, the government might give false information about its military strength as a tactical political subversion during hostile times.
