SPE 461: Week #2 – Weekly Activity #2 January 31, 2024 You have completed the slide show and the video clips that focused on Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological Systems Theory You watched a video that “mapped out” Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological Systems Theory and the various stages In the video, the presenter shared a map of her son and how that related to Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological Systems Theory Now, for this week, think about how you might create your own map. For each SYSTEM component, provide at least three specific (3) examples that define you and your upbringing or your path from childhood to adulthood. If you want to, rather than focus on yourself, you can focus on your own child or a family member as an option. The most important part is to begin to think about different phases in life that make us who we are and how these components do NOT operate or function independently but are part of an entire ECOLOGICAL system. Note: This information will help you with your CASE STUDY Part 2 as you will interpret and incorporate Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological Systems Theory as a component of your case study report MICROSYSTEM 1. She was the favorite student for most teachers because of her high intelligence quotient. She took schoolwork more seriously than me and often came to my room for academic consultations. The fact that her mother did odd jobs to make ends meet served as a daily motivation for her to work smart in school. 3. Local Sports Team Despite my niece’s high prowess in schoolwork, she was also a talented footballer and preferred playing as a forward. The school sports teacher had spotted her talent and took her to a local football club where she would train with other professionals. This exposure gave her better self-esteem and teamwork skills. She also became more time-conscious as she balanced school work and demands from football training. She expanded her social network and became more famous than I was. MESOSYSTEM 1. School Environment My sister constantly visited her daughter in school to check on her academic progress and social well-being. She had a good relationship with my niece’s teachers and was later chosen as a board representative for the school. Moreover, most of her childhood friends in school came from wealthy neighborhoods, yet they never despised my niece’s upbringing. She grew up to be a caring girl who had other people’s interests at her heart and strived for the happiness of all. She was the most preferred leader during childh...
