Present studies show that people who had warm, affectionate parents in their childhood live better lives (Cekaite & Bergnehr, 2018). Most of them have stable relationships, are law-abiding citizens and have better ways of solving their problems. In contrast, people who grew up in broken families witnessed domestic violence and were never shown love at an early age are likely to experience emotional and psychological problems (Dutton, 2018), exposing them to criminal activities (Hillis, Mercy, & Saul, 2017). Since these individuals never experienced love, they may end up hurting other people as revenge (Afifi et al, 2017). According to Moffitt (2013), adults who were disciplined harshly as children have a high chance of suffering from stress, depression, anxiety or addiction. This is the case for Mr. Tall, a young man who never experienced parental love, and was constantly exposed to violence by his mother and stepfather in his early childhood. Because lack of affection in early children and exposure to violence negatively impacts childhood and adulthood life, there is a need to act swiftly to save children from wrongdoings bearing in mind that behaviours are learned. This report analyzes the situation and applies risk management approaches to help solve the problem. One of the key risks for Mr. Tall is behavioural problems. Based on the case study, Mr. Tall has never felt loved by his parents. He has also felt rejected and betrayed by the people who should love him the most. Due to these feelings, Mr. Tall can easily develop deviant behaviours in response to his past experiences. He may channel his anger to his peers, subjecting them to constant abuse and violence. This is in line with a study by Yoon (2016) which found that children without affectionate parents tend to feel more hostile, aggressive and anti-social. They cannot have a healthy relationship with other people (Orth, 2018). At school, Mr. Tall’s behaviour got worse. He would get angry, punch other kids for no reason, and damage school property. Another key risk is mental illness. Mr. Tall is highly likely to experience psychological problems including stress, anxiety and depression. According to the scenario, Mr. Tall explained that as a child, his mother’s lack of care and affection and his stepfather's violence were a result of something about him. As children do, he took responsibility for their behaviour. He took the message that ''I am no good, bad'', ''I am to blame, I am the problem'', I am worthless'' and that in terms of other people, ''no one cares’’ – and in his eyes, this had to be as a result of something about him. Mr Tall felt like his family tried to conceal him from the world, thinking he was naughty and evil. In his mind, it felt like his mother and his stepfather wanted him to be invisible, not to exist. These feelings may hurt Mr. Tall’s emotional and mental health. He is likely to find himself mentally unstable and emotionally unbalanced. He can be indecisive while making valuable decisions in life. At times, he may fail to arrive at a categorical imperative. This person does not possess the ability to finalize things like a leader. He is only left with inner turmoil and a conclusion: Had he been endeared in his childhood, his life would have been less complicated. The feelings of being worthless, and unwanted, and low self-esteem may leave Mr. Tall contemplating suicide. Evidence from the case study shows that there were times in Mr. Tall’s life when these thoughts and feelings seemed to have overwhelmed him and described trying to end your life. Mr. Tall also risks having poor performance in school. Lack of compassion from parents and exposure to violence subjects children to constant stress (Castellví, et al., 2017), robbing them of their concentration in the classroom (Tsheole et al., 2023). This child can easily lose interest in classroom activities, resulting in absenteeism which is an antecedent of low academic achievement (Cekaite & Bergnehr, 2018). At school, teachers would make people stand up in the class and read. Mr. Tall would struggle, become anxious and stutter causing other children to laugh. He would feel humiliated and begin to think that teachers were picking on him. These struggles and feelings could lead to low interest in learning and, hence poor performance. The individual could also drop out of school to avoid humiliation from teachers and peers. Lagging in academics will surely harm the child's professional Life in the long run (Thoresen et al., 2015). He would have nowhere to go when bullied at school, have no shoulders to cry on, and no one to ask for help. Instead, he is likely to absorb ruthlessness deeply which might become a part of his personality. This is how the unbreakable cycle of abhorrence exists. Another risk is delinquent acts that may continue in adulthood. At 22, Mr. Tall already committed his index offence that landed him in prison. In prison we see a man trying hard to change his thinking and behaviour. In prison, Mr. Tall has openly said that certain thoughts and rules for a living continue to cause him problems in terms of his moods and emotions and in relation to violence. His experiences have left him with a view that if people think someone is weak, they will walk all over him, and take advantage and it remains difficult for that person to walk away from what he sees as provocation or disrespect.
