In a study of a memory experiment among college students, a research team of behavioral psychologists assigned the same group of students (N = 200) to three treatment conditions: No intervention, After Intervention, and Post Intervention. Conduct a one-way repeated measures ANOVA. Here are the SPSS steps: Click Analyze, click General Linear Model, then click Repeated Measures. You will see the Repeated Measures Define Factor(s) dialog box. In the Within-Subject Factor Name text box, type Condition instead of Factor 1. Type 3 in the number of Levels box. Click Add. Click Define. You will see the Repeated Measures dialog box. Holding down the Ctrl key, click on Memory Scores Before Intervention, Memory Scores After Intervention, and Memory Scores Post Intervention, then click to move them to the Within-Subjects Variables box. Click Options. Highlight Condition in the Factor(s) and Factor Interactions box. Click to make it appear in the Display Means for the package. Click Estimates of effect size and Descriptive Statistics in the Display box. Click EM means, click Compare Main Effects, and choose Bonferroni (These actions would be used to conduct pair-wise comparisons). Click Continue. Click OK. Conducting Polynomial Contrasts following a Significant Main Effect Within the Repeated Measures Dialog box, click Contrasts. Click Polynomial. Click Continue. Click OK. For Plots, 1. Click Plots. 2. Move the Condition to the Horizontal Axis 3. Click Add. 4. Check Line Chart. 5. Click Continue. 6. Click OK.
