This will help the country in drawing more focus on their strengths, minimizing the threats that they encounter, and helping them into taking advantage of the opportunities available for them in order to improve productivity.
Strengths;
Economic Situation
The economy of Turkey has grown a factor that makes it be ranked 32 out of 43 countries in the world. The country has opened doors for global investors to come and build up the nation especially in the tourist sector. Through this, the government of Turkey strongly encourages foreign direct Investment. Another aspect that impacts this country is the fact that it is bordered by eight countries, making it an essential hub for the importation and exportation of goods from foreign markets. The trade ties between Turkey and Western and European countries give it an advantage in growing its economy.[. Demirbag, Mehmet, David Collings, Ekrem Tatoglu, Kamel Mellahi, and Geoffrey Wood. 2014. "High-Performance Work Systems And Organizational Performance In Emerging Economies: Evidence From Mnes In Turkey." Management International Review (Mir) 54, No. 3: 325-359. ]
Cultural and Social Situation;
This remains a powerful aspect in Turkey since the social and cultural situation promotes the countries bilateral relations. Through these proximities, Turkey is able to define its common interests and how it relates with other countries on the basis of trade and how to cooperate. It is imperative to realize that through the cultural and social situation, the country has achieved bilateral relation which have been developed as a result of international systems and has lasted for a long period in achieving. This factor has bolted and cemented the relations of Turkey and other nations, a factor that has promoted the country’s economy.[. Ibid.2]
Legal and Geopolitical Issues
Turkey has embarked on a mission to establish a blocking positioning in Anatolia in order to address its shortcoming forces. This has forced the country to expand its territory in order to secure its resources and markets. The Anatolia block gives Turkey an advantage since it limits the invasion of Asian powers to bring war to Turkey. Turkey enjoys good weathers, ice-free and deep water ports, and a factor that enables it to be competitive in the region. Through this, water transport is efficient in Turkey than land transport.[. Governmental System;
Turkey, a Muslim nation has a close link with the West, and this dates back from the beginning of the Ottoman. The country has a Western political orientation with experiments on democracy still going on in the Nation. The parliamentary democracy in an Islamic world has proved to be progressive and is based on a stronger and deeper experience.
Weaknesses;
Economical Situation
Turkey’s economic freedom has declined in the score card by 1.0 point since 2011 according to sources. The economic freedoms of the country including business property and business freedoms have also dropped immensely. Corruption, nepotism, and cronyism are factors that still find root in the government, a factor that has lead to a lack of transparency within the functions of the government. These factors have strongly affected the economy of the Nation.[. Ibid. 3]
Cultural and Social Situation;
Since Turkey is an Islamic Nation, there have been cases of abuse and discrimination on the beliefs, practices and religious affiliation of other people. These factors are viewed as a threat to the Islamic religion and the unity of the Nation. Members of the minority groups face a lot of threats, a factor that has caused and created mixed reactions. Ethnical, cultural and social intolerance are among the factors that affect the country’s economy.[.Ibid. 4]
Legal and Geopolitical Issues;
The geopolitical status of Turkey is a major concern that needs to be addressed. The country is not a member of the EU and half of its foreign trade lies within the EU nations. This aspect has thwarted the efforts of the country to develop expansions in trade, receive support in the countries agricultural sector. This has mitigated the efforts of the country in increasing its capital investments that are significant for the future of the country.
Governmental Atmosphere
The successive governments of Turkey failed to introduce full democracy at once. They therefore, went through periods of limited democracy, a factor that made the development and productivity of the country slow down. The trade unions were also placed under a sequestration order. The constitution and the policies of the law have some sections that do not accept religious freedom in the country. Through this, the government of Turkey provides a favorable treatment for the dominant religion.[. Yanik, Lerna K. "Foreign Policy During 2011 Parliamentary Elections in Turkey: Both an Issue and Non-issue." Turkish Studies13, no. 2 (June 2012): 213-227. Academic Search Premier.]
