Introduction
LookAt U is an application that seeks to reduce the time women spend on choosing what to wear by providing suggestions based on their body shapes and fashion preferences. In today’s fashion world, each cloth is made for a specific occasion. Therefore, using the collected data and spending habits of women, the application will display various suggestion based on various events and occasions.
The application has three important steps:
* Women posting their various clothes and bodies on the app
* The app digitizes the clothes using graphics
* Displaying various suggestions that women can chose from
I. Customer analysis
Using questionnaires, a survey was undertaken in New York and its aim was to; identify the target market, identify the problem, analyze the problem, and find out if LookAt U application had the capability to solve the problem.
The survey targeted a wide range of women over 18 years of age. We tried to ascertain if the problem really exists and if there was another application that offered solutions to the problem. Finally, we tried to identify if women from New York would be interested in our application thus being willing to pay for it.
I.I The questionnaire
The survey was based on the following questions;
* Name? Age?
* Do you love fashion? If yes, which fashion clothes do you prefer? i.e dresses, trousers, skirt-suits, casual, or both.
* Are you employed? If yes, does your employer have a strict mode of dressing?
* Do you attend many events? If yes, which type of events? What mode of dressing is dominant in those events?
* Is the color of clothes important to your choice of dressing? If yes, which colors do you prefer?
* Does your body shape hinder you from wearing some clothes?
* Do you have some clothes that you do not wear because you cannot find other clothes that match with them?
* Have you ever been late to work or an event because you were struggling to decide which clothes to wear?
* Do you have an application that helps you to choose what to wear? If yes, does the application satisfy all your fashion needs?
* Approximately, how long does it take you to dress?
I.2 Results and analysis
New York being a vibrant city with many occasions and events coupled with various headquarters of many companies, exhibit a wide range of fashion. We found out that majority of the women in the city love fashion. However, they experienced problems when trying to decide what to wear. Approximately, they were spending 17 minutes every day just to wear clothes. Majority of the women indicated that they sometimes reach the work place after the required time because they take too much to dress in clothes comply with what ensure their employer wants.
The survey also revealed that women were sensitive on the color of clothes they wear. Each set or individual color represented a particular event. Nevertheless, matching colors of blouses and skirts was not always easy. The problem was bigger in women who had tummies and slim bodies since any mistake would either expose the tummy or exaggerate the slim body shape. Nevertheless, not all women faced challenges when dressing themselves. This was the case in university students who preferred casual appearances.
Additionally, we found out that there is an application that is related to women clothes in New York. However, the application only kept record of women clothes without necessarily giving out suggestions that could solve the problem. As a result, majority of the women indicated that they would like something that suggests what to wear with consideration to the various types of events, dress mode at work, and the body shape.
In summary, we found out that majority of the women in New York love fashion but take a considerable amount of time to dress themselves. Due to frequent changes in fashion, we projected that the time may increase. However, since not all women perceived dressing to be a challenge, we used the results to identify our target market.
II. Target profile
* Busy professionals
Career women who move from office to office 7 days a week are a target because they have to adhere to some standards of dressing. Dressing problem is even bigger if they have to prepare their before going to work. Through LookAt U application, they will easily dress up for work without much hustle.
* Fashion trend followers (old and young women)
Due to its vibrancy, New York has a lot of events where people showcase their fashion superiority. For people who are keen about fashion changes, LookAt U targets them because the application collects data, digitizes it, and display suggestion based on changes in fashion.
* Women who care about their outfits
Women who care about their outfits want something that fits them. This is common in women with tummies and those with slim body shapes. LookAt U targets them because using the various body shapes that women upload on the app, it display suggestions based on various body shapes.
