Introduction
Automobile crashes that result from texting while driving remains an epidemic that has taken several nations by storm for an extended period. The question as to how people think they have the capacity to safely type on their phones while in the act of driving or never consider the dangers of these actions remains a matter in question. In this case, texting while driving ought to stop. This paper seeks to address the element of texting while driving for the upcoming young populations who are the most affected group in most societies. The primary purpose of choosing this audience remains in the fact that many lives are lost over negligence, an aspect that requires action in developing policies that would guide in addressing this issue. Scholars show that most deaths through road accident arise from aspects of the driver’s poor concentration through either being drunk, being sleepy or texting while driving.
A huge population of young people in the present world own vehicles but rarely obey the road safety rules, which puts a lot of people’s lives at risk. Texting while driving currently causes high risk of death the driver himself and other people including other motorists, pedestrians and road users. According to this source, several adult drivers in the U.S face the allegations of texting while driving. Given this, it is essential for the government of the United States to take a stronger stance aimed at passing legislative measures that unifies the offence of texting while driving laws and punishments including offering mass education on the dangers of texting while driving. Texting and driving, as detailed in this article, remains one of the biggest problems that several nations encounter. The progressions in text messaging using capable smart phones and the numbers of people engaging in this act are currently the largest destructions in the world. Individuals are fixated on phones checking on their social media and responding to posts while driving, an aspect that is extremely dangerous for the people behind the wheels. Statistics show that every year, 21% of the fatal accidents involving teenagers between age 16 and 20 results from the use of cell phones while driving (Worrell 1). The government needs to take stern measures to regulate this menace. Given this, it is essential to consider that these statistics are bound to rise by as much as 4% every year in cases where these acts are not addressed. However, this seems not to be a problem with the teen drivers.
