Berlin airlift
The Berlin airlift started in 29 Jun 1948, where the Soviet Union took control of the main transport hubs including the railway, road and canals, blocking the access of Western Allies. In the temperature scale this was a warm event at 65°, as there were signs that the Soviet would use her military power to limit the US influence. The airlift was a major incident in the escalation of tension in the Cold War, but it also provided crucial supplies to Western Berlin.
Sputnik satellites
The 1957 Sputnik Launch highlighted the Soviets strategic, military and technological advancements putting the first artificial satellite in space, and cool at the thermometer scale at 33° as the US and Soviet Union used resources to escalate the space race. There were concerns that the Soviet Union would spy on Europe and U.S, launch missiles, and be more technologically advanced to exercise power over her enemies. The race to launch satellites pitied the US against the Soviet Union to reign supreme.
Korean Conflicts
The Korean War was a flashing point between the communist backed north and the south supported by the US, and the two Koreas were divided along the 38th parallel in 1950. The Korean conflicts were very warm in the temperature scale at 75° as there was risk of escalating tension pitying the Koreas, the US and China. North Korea launched attacks into the republic of Korea with the aim of uniting the two under communities, but was thwarted by the US army and the southern forces. The Korea demilitarized zone is still a flashpoint between the North and South, but no nuclear weapons have been use as yet against the South.
Vietnam War
Ho Chi Minh’s quest for Vietnam independence was associated with his attacks on South Vietnam together with his guerilla fighters to unify the country under communism. This was a hot event at 80° on the temperature scale as the war occurred for more than a decade and the country was finally united under a communist regime. There were increased anti-war protests in the US, and fear that other countries would embrace communism, and threatening U.S interests.
