The Benefits of Young People Using Internet to Communication
Introduction
Internet use has got several benefits especially among youths that largely depend on it for communicating their issues. Experts have pointed out that internet is the third dangerous form of addiction after cigarette smoking and alcohol consumption. According to Khan, et al, internet has got its risks which are quite grievous and therefore whoever is using internet quite often especially youths is advised to be extra careful (9). There are numerous ways by which youths are using internet and one is communication. There are many social sites where youths are the majority subscribers which provides platform for communication via internet. For instance, social sites like Facebook, Whatsapp, Twitter, Instagram and Snap Chat are among the social sites that youths are using for communication purposes. Use of internet as a tool for communication has got several benefits to the youths. For instance, youths that are faced with challenging circumstances have taken advantage of internet to communicate to the world. The other benefits of youths using internet for communication is that it enhances understanding and confidence of youths. Other than for communication, internet has got several other uses like making money as bloggers and writers, shopping, watching videos as well as for learning. Internet provides solution to almost all the problems that people face in their day to day livelihood (Sinnreich and Alan, 512).

Historical Overview of the Use of Internet for Communication by Youths
The use of internet for communication by youths can be traced from the emergence of smart phones and other social media sites like Facebook. Discovery of internet has revolutionized the world of computers, cell phones and communication than nothing else before. Discovery of internet has made world to become a global village where people can now communicate with each other from different parts of the world without having to travel long distances. The idea of internet was first conceived in early 1960s by some few visionary people who discovered great potential that would be added to computers if allowed to share development and information about scientific research and military fields. J.C.R Licklider of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) first came up with the idea of global networking of computers in 1962. By mid 1962, Licklider was so determined to actualize his dream and as a result, he joined the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to be in charge of developing the internet.
To aid the development of internet successfully, a member of MIT by the name of Leonard Kleinrock came up with a theory for developing packet switching which was the main basis for internet connections. In 1965, Lawrence Roberts a member of MIT successfully connected computers that were available in both Massachusetts and California through the use of telephone lines. To actualize the idea of communication via internet, in 1972, a fascinating electronic mail application was discovered. That was the beginning of communication via email an idea that was made possible because of the discovery of internet that were determined to make the mode of communication much easier and quicker. From there till today, the internet has gone through very many developmental stages to where it currently is. Internet can be accessed by everyone using smart phones so long as there is Wi-Fi or Data bundles. This confirms that a journey of a thousand miles begin with a single step. Internet has now become part and parcel of every human’s activities. Internet has made work easier and has contributed immensely in saving environment as it has contributed in the reduction of paper usage to send a message, as the era for writing letters have long gone. Pros and Cons of Internet Use for Communication among Youths
Internet has got its pros and cons when it is used for communication by youths and this paper will be highlighting some of those pros and cons. Older people are finding it quite difficult to comprehend how the environment that the current generation is living in has been changed by the internet. The youths in this current generation cannot fathom how life can be without information and communication technology. It is to say that the discovery of internet has changed lifestyle significantly both positively and negatively in this technological era. Internet has promoted unrivalled opportunities for learning, innovation and communication like was never witnessed before. However, despite the numerous benefits of internet, it has got its disadvantages at the same time. Internet has presented significant challenges to young people that are using it. The use of internet for communication by youths clearly has got its advantages and disadvantages on them (Turel and Alexander.Par 2).
Advantages of Internet Use for Communication by Youths
There are several advantages of internet use for communication by youths from different parts of the world, and some of those advantages will be discussed within this paper. Discovery of internet paved the way for the creation of social media that is widely being used by the youths as a means for communication. The internet and the social media has provided youths with better opportunities and benefits to empower themselves in a number of ways. With the availability of internet and social media, young people are now capable of accessing information as well as communicating the problems that affect them on the social media platform. For instance, through the use of Whatsapp, youths form groups that they openly discuss issues that are affecting them openly and without fear. This will develop their communication skills. The other advantage for using the internet as a mode for communication by young people is that it enables them to become active citizens and social participants in their various societies (Guan and Kaveri, 351).
