Why People Love Watching Horror Movies
Horror films are movies that entail tension, relevance, and unrealism. They are nothing more than other movies. They are films like trailers and love triangle movies. However, if you are not courageous or a horror movie fan, you will be marveled with the things horror movie lovers watch. You will also find it hard to estimate or learn what the people fond of watching scary movie undergo while watching such movies. Fortunately, your puzzlement will be related directly to the opinion provided by many behavioral researchers who claim that horror movies are paradoxical. Behavioral researchers also believe that there is something extraordinary that pools people together into watching these movies. According to them, it is not logical for people to spend the whole day scaring themselves through watching such movies. They believe that most people in the world love experiencing pleasant emotions and not what horror movies watchers experience while watching scary movies (King 463). However, it seems horror movies are harmless and entertaining. This is evidenced by the opinions given horror movie lovers. For instance, the scary acts of the movie create the scary environment in the individuals watching the movie. Some also love being scared and take it as fun. This paper will provide detailed information as to why many people love watching horror movies despite their scary acts and events.
To some people, being scared is more than fun. The scary events in the movie make their heart leap then settle within a short period triggering the flow of joy in their veins (King 461). For instance, the first time I saw the huge jaws tearing a fresh in one of the scenes in “The Walking Dead” I was extremely scared. The way in which the rising dead were feeding on the living made my fingers trembled. I tried to imagine on what I would have done if I were one of the living in that world. Thanks to some steps taken by some brave individuals such as Carol. Her act of shooting a young girl who had stubbed her age mate to death was shocking but at the same time fun.
In most occasions, individuals that watch horror movies are associated with crimes and violent acts in the society because of the senseless killings seen in horror movies. However, most people search for the horror movies so as to overcome their emotional feelings (Bantinaki 383). Some also love experiencing the sensation provided with such movies and not the senseless killings portrayed in the movie. For instance, it is evident that the sensation plays a significant role towards pumping the adrenalin that contributes to the loss of stress or emotions (Bantinaki 383). The production of the adrenaline also enhances individuals overcome fear. Thus, it is the sensation that makes most people love watching horror movies.
Just like any other activities, watching horror movies is addictive. A person spends most of the time watching them without any problem after developing the urge of watching it continuously. Denying a horror addict the freedom of watching scary movies is like denying him or her one of the fundamental rights in life. Additionally, the time spent in watching horror movies aids in preventing horror addict from involving in un-societal acts (Garret 1). This is evidenced by how they perfect their assigned tasks so as to have extra time for such movies. It is also evident that horror movie lovers prefer watching scary movies to other abusive practices such as abuse of drugs. Thus, most individuals watch horror movies so as to avoid going against the social norms.
Overcoming fear and violence are so hard; in most occasions, it involves direct participation in frightening activities, in life. For instance, it is evident that many criminals become courageous via indulging in violent activities occasionally. It is also evident that our societies are manifested with crime activities. To overcome the fears associated with such crimes requires courage, and the only way of gathering courage is via watching scary movies or games (Bantinaki 391). Thus, most people tend to believe that they will gather the courage via watching horror movies. Fortunately, this works with some people. This is evidenced by the courage individuals gather after watching horror movies to deep late in the night; majority of them manage to find their ways out to their respective homes from movie theatres. It is also evidenced by the way individuals that watch such movies handle violent acts in their respective societies (Ellis-Christensen 1). For instance, most people that watch scary movies find it very easy to save the victim of fatal accidents. Thus, it is evident that most people love watching horror movies so as to overcome fear and handle violent situations in life.
Getting some things out of the mind is so difficult. For instance, it is very difficult for any boy to sit in a room with his girlfriend for a long time without thinking of other things that may lead to abuse of some practices such as sex (Garret 1). However, most people find it easy to watch horror movies with their loved ones without being aroused in any way. Horror movies do not provide a platform for romantic thoughts. Scary movies aid youths in overcoming feelings that may lead not only to diseases, but also addiction. Thus, most people watch scary movies so as to overcome some feelings that may lead to addiction or abuse of rights.
According to some researchers, the aftermath of watching a scary movie is appealing. In most occasions, it leads to transfer of excitation to an individual making life appealing. This is evidenced by the lingering of the physiological arousal after spending many hours watching a horror movie. Additionally, the moment after watching a scary movie is associated with the development of positive emotions within an individual when having fun with friends. The chat of the incidents within the movie makes time rush faster and in the process creating the urge of wanting to see more within an individual.
Advancement in technology correlates very well with the emergence of many accidents in the world. Every place on earth is prone to the occurrence of accidents or an accident.
