Art Work at Tokyo National Museum: Standing Fudo Myo-o (Acalanatha)

Choose two or more works of art from China, Korea, or Japan in the museum you chose and explain how these works are related to videos demonstrating art techniques you’ve watched at the Bamboo Canvas. You should be able to explain how each art work was created based on your understanding of artistic materials and techniques you’ve seen in the video documentaries. The more precise and comprehensive your description or explanation, the better your essay will be.

In your paper, you must write the exact title of the work and reason(s) you are interested in it. Describe what you think the artist wanted to represent or achieve socio-politically and artistically. The more you elaborate about the period and the technique/material/function as well as its subject matter (if it depicts a narrative story or a recognizable theme), the higher your score would be. Your own interpretation is important based on the information you’ve acquired from the museum’s description or from the documentary in the Bamboo Canvas. You should demonstrate that you clearly understand a period and a country in which your object was created.
